Solid carbide honeycomb cutting router bits provide a burr-free top and bottom finish, providing that the workpiece is thicker than 0.250”. Designed for cutting Bioboard™, Falconboard®, Aluminum Honeycomb (AHP) carbon fiber and honeycomb cardboard.

Excellent for Cutting:

  • Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS)
  • Aluminum Honeycomb Panel (AHP)
  • BioBoard™
  • Carbon
  • Carbon Fiber
  • Carbon Graphite
  • Composites
  • Falconboard®
  • Fiberglass Filled Plastics
  • Honeycomb Cardboard
  • Lexan™
  • Unfilled Plastics

Benefits of ZrN Coating

  • Creates a harder and tougher cutting edge allows for a prolonged cutting edge life and helps to prevent the build-up of material in the flutes while cutting
  • High resistance to wear
  • Extended tool life
  • Less friction & heat buildup
  • High resistance to wear

Please note: For optimal results and to extend tool life please use mist lubricant system or air cooling. Please inspect cut and adjust accordingly.

Falconboard can be a challenge because of the combination of outer layers and the internal supporting layers of paper.

Wouldn’t be using the 46308, because while it is a compression router, the margins and cutting edges have no interruptions whatsoever. So the tool basically beats itself against the paper, flailing at it rather than slicing in and out of it. The VERY BEST way to cut it...the cleanest...is with a blade, not a rotating or reciprocating tool.\n\nYou would have much better success with the 46306 (http://www.amanatool.com/46306-solid-carbide-zrn-coated-honeycomb-hogger-1-4-dia-x-1-1-4.html) or 46309 (http://www.amanatool.com/46309-solid-carbide-zrn-coated-honeycomb-hogger-1-2-dia-x-3-x-1.html)...it has lots of little, itty-bitty teeth that chew the paper out, rather than trying to slap it out in big sweeping cutting edges.

I am routing 1" Falconboard with this bit and it is not giving me a clean edge. Is this typical?

Please let me know what type of machine your running the material on and your feed and speed rate.
