Amana Tool Introduces In-Plastic™ Cut and Quad Chamfer Insert CNC System
Amana Tool Introduces In-Plastic™ Cut and Quad Chamfer Insert CNC System
New system provides high-quality one action cutting and chamfering for Plexiglas®, polystyrene and other plastic materials
Farmingdale, N.Y. – March 11, 2009 – Amana Tool, manufacturers of industrial-quality carbide-tipped, solid carbide and insert carbide cutting tools, today announced its new In-Plastic™ CNC Insert Cut and Quad Chamfer System featuring one tool body with multiple carbide insert knives for cutting, plunging and chamfering plastic materials. In-Plastic users can produce crisp, clean cuts that enable efficient chip removal allowing for improved cutting performance and faster operation with no melting. In-Plastic features 13 knives to accommodate varying material thicknesses and provide excellent performance when cutting and chamfering for Plexiglas®, polystyrene and other plastic materials. The In-Plastic system is ideal for use in sizing, display case, sign making and lettering applications.
The new In-Plastic system allows CNC machine users to cut and chamfer the top and bottom of both sides of plastics in one action. Amana Tool’s insert knives are made from sub-micro grain carbide particles that create a finer edge, are more resistant to wear and last at least twice as long as standard comparable solid carbide bits. The high-grade carbide and special grinding angles provide high-quality finishes and superior cutting performance to save users time and labor. In-Plastic’s precise design ensures that knife penetration to the spoilboard is minimal, only 0.2 mm, virtually eliminating stress on the tool and the spindle.
“We are constantly looking into ways to save our customers time and money while solving their cutting problems with the highest quality tools,” said Frank Misiti, Technical Director of Amana Tool. “The unique tool body was engineered to quickly interchange inserts while mounted in CNC machines to eliminate down-time and to maintain consistent cutting accuracy. We’ve gotten overwhelmingly positive feedback from several large cabinet production shops where the system is already in use.”
The new knives also fit the In-Groove tool bodies, available in 1/4” (item RC-1075) and 1/2” (item RC-1076) shank diameters, both of which are expertly balanced and can rotate at very high speeds with virtually no vibration. Knives perform both quad chamfering and cutting of the material in one pass as well as plunging for material thicknesses of 0.5 mm to 5.30 mm. For material thicknesses of 5.60 mm to 9.30 mm, the system can be used only for chamfering the top and bottom of the materials and is meant solely for edgework. Amana Tool’s Spiral “O” Flute router bit (item 51404) can be used to cut these thicker materials.
In-Plastic tool bodies and knives are sold separately. The In-Plastic System starts at $66.83 USD and comprises one tool body and a knife tip; additional replacement knives start at $22.05 USD. All In-Plastic tools and accessories are available through Amana Tool’s authorized distributors. For the location nearest you, visit www.amanatool.com.
