Cutting through flooring staples

I am fabracating a transition from hard wood to carpet in a doorway.

I will need to cut back from the door way an install a new piece of hardwood at right angle to the existing flooring.

The ends of the flooring will need to have a 1/4" kerf cut into the hardwood. I am unsure if I will hit any flooring staples when cutting this kerf.

I have purchased a 45668 bit and will be using a 1 1/4 HP trim router for the cut to allow getting as close the the door frame as possable.

The total leanth of the cut will be about 24"

Obvously I will need to move slowly and support the router base on both the cut side and the open side to prevent the router from tipping.

My question will this bit be able to sucessful cut through the staples and produce an acceptable cut with out too much damage to the bit?

Thank you for the question.

The tool will give you a clean cut in the wood. It was not made for cutting staples. You're rolling the dice because if you miss the staples you will be ok, but if you hit them it could break the carbide. It will also void any warranty on the product.

Is there any way of cutting the piece and then fitting it in after?
