Wood Shaper

I just bought a Reliant® DD34 wood shaper to make oak trim, base and cornish moulding. Does this shaper use 1/2" or 3/4" bore cutters and what would you recommend?

I'm not familiar with the Reliant® brand of shapers; however, the bore of the cutter is determined by the diameter of the shaper spindle.

Many older home-shop shapers have one-half inch spindles and small motors. These older machines were produced during a time when routers were small and router bits were available in limited profiles.

Instead of investing in shaper cutters I suggest that you purchase a large router and mount it in a table. Router bits are less expensive than shaper cutters and they're also available in a wider variety of profiles. In the long run you'll have more versatility at a lower cost.
